On November 22, 2018, the signing ceremony of the Cocoland Sugar Plant Project in PNG was successfully held in Port Moresby. Minister of Investment Duma and Minister of Health Sir Tammu attended the meeting.

The Cocoland Sugar Factory project is located in Papua New Guinea Central Province. It is jointly invested by Thailand Yaosheng Sugar Company and Pasin Kum Agricultural Company. Tianjin Electromechanical Import and Export Company is the EPC general contractor. The project will use a complete set of Chinese technology and equipment. The total investment of the project is US$480 million, and the daily processing capacity of sugarcane is 20,000 tons. It is expected to bring 65,000 jobs to Papua New Guinea after its completion. In addition, the bagasse produced by the project operation will be used for power generation to meet the electricity demand of local residents. Currently, the project has been approved by the PNG National Executive Committee (NEC).
